The Gandhi Foundation Annual Lecture 2022 has proven so popular that all in-person tickets have now sold out.

We are currently looking for a larger venue to increase attendance but will also be providing a live stream and will be recording the event too.

If you wish to log in to Zoom on the day, the link and event details are shown below. You can also find out more about the event by reading the original news post or by visiting the Eventbrite page.

Naturally, if we are able to secure a larger venue, further updates will follow.

Some background to the event

Today’s conventional wisdom is that the best we’ve got when it comes to preventing and stopping war is the Just War Tradition and its associated framework of international law and institutions. Yet these conventional tools keep proving insufficient. In this lecture, 3 factors that might explain these insufficiencies and point beyond our current setup will be explored: the widely-shared yet increasingly questionable assumption that violence can be an effective instrument to achieve political ends; the deep institutional dynamics which incentivise a chronic slide towards systematic militarism; and very structural foundation of our international order.
